Established through a partnership between Port Stephens Council and Port Stephens Koala Hospital, the sanctuary provides exceptional care for sick, injured, and orphaned koalas. IMPORTANT NOTES FOR A VISIT: A visit to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary entails a round trip walk of about 1km in length. All pathways and elevated viewing platforms are easily accessible designed for all ages and abilities. Some limited bench seating is provided along the Sanctuary Story Walk and SKYwalk. We recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen for sun protection and drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.
Child policy: Children aged 4-13, infants under 3 years old are free.
Opening hours: 9am – 5pm every day (last entry at 4pm) (except Christmas) Winter months close at 4.00pm (last entry at 3pm).
